I once heard someone say, “Your center will hold.” I thought, “How powerful!”  But what happens when a person feels anxious, overwhelmed, or sad and has nothing left to give?  How can your “center hold” when you feel completely empty?

  • Do you feel as if you have been the cornerstone for everyone else, yet no one understands you have grown weary?
  • Do you feel like you have tied a knot at the end of a rope and are barely holding on?
  • Are you a first responder and feel drained or overwhelmed?

I have been called to this profession to encourage you during this challenging time in your life.  No matter how tired or defeated you may feel, you are strong enough to handle any obstacle you may face. Depressive and anxious thoughts will be overcome. You are not alone.  I will walk with you as you begin your healing journey. “Your center will indeed hold.”

Help for First Responders

First responders especially support our communities and are “unsung heroes.”  First responders include Police Officers, Corrections Officers/Staff, Paramedics, Therapists, Doctors, Nurses, etc.

These front-line workers provide diligent service with little or no appreciation."First responder nurse in Beachwood, Ohio, Akron, Ohio, or Lorain, Ohio, overwhelmed with anxiety, taking a break from a challenging workday. First responders work tirelessly and can find help too. Explore therapy for first responders, counseling for anxiety, depression, grief, work/life balance, and more." Furthermore, they deal with the most challenging situations in society—all to keep the people they serve safe and well. Many of these workers experience vicarious trauma.

Vicarious trauma is when you experience trauma symptoms from someone else experiencing trauma. Vicarious trauma occurs when we hear about or see trauma that has happened to someone else. As a Retired Prison Warden, I am passionate about supporting first responders. Therefore, I use empathy, my experiences, and concern, focusing on Trauma Informed Care.

More About Me

I am a retired Prison Warden, serving as the Appointing Authority of three prisons, with over 32 years of correctional experience.  While working as a Warden, I attended Ashland Theology Seminary and studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling, graduating in December 2019. After saying farewell to the field of corrections, I emerged into the clinical world.  I feel doubly blessed to work in two fields where God has allowed me to help His people find restoration, wholeness, and peace.

I have lived in Northeastern Ohio for most of my life, attending undergraduate and graduate schools and raising my children.  In 1999, I became a licensed minister, and in 2002, I received a Certificate of Ordination. Additionally, the State of Ohio also authorizes me to solemnize marriages.

Christian counseling is a passion, but I will work with anyone who walks through my “proverbial door.” I am a doting Mother, Grandmother, and wife. I adore spending time with family and supporting people, my local church, and the community at large.
